He is a lottery pick that has done little with his NBA career after being the 8th pick in the 2006 draft. After being nothing more than below average in Atlanta, Williams has been shipped off to Sacramento and then Minnesota.

<img style="border: 0pt none;" title="See ya later Sacto, hello Beantown! He went from being a lottery pick salary (he made $3,395,760 last year) bundled in to make deals work to joining one of the top teams in the NBA.

Boston will be his fourth team going into his fourth NBA season. Can you say bust?

Another negative indicator is that the Williams meager 5.5 points a game as a rookie is his career high. His scoring average has steadily decreased.

THE POSSIBILITIES

This could be the end of Leon Powe’s time in Boston. He is still months away from being NBA ready after his season ending knee injury last year.

With their depth chart full, Boston will no longer worry whether or not Powe can regain his form with them this year. Boston can shift focus to retaining Glen “Big Baby” Davis instead.

THE MIRACLE

Williams thrives in this new environment, and learns from Kevin Garnett and Rasheed Wallace what type of work it takes to be an NBA impact player. By being surrounded with championship-caliber players in a superior basketball system, he plays to his eighth overall pick potential.

THE HARSH REALITY

We’ll likely put a man on Mars before Williams has any sort of NBA impact. Good thing he married well.
