NBA legend Kareem Abdul Jabbar has Leukemia. The legend is publically speaking to help raise awareness.

This is a great, courageous act by an ordinarily highly private person coming out publicly to address his health issues.

Abdul-Jabbar can use his superstar status to raise eyebrows and raise awareness of his illness in hopes it will raise spirits help prevent alienation to those affected by the disease.

We here at Protect the Paint sincerely wish Abdul Jabbar a successful treatment, and look forward to Captain Skyhook brightening the NBA world for years to come as an ambassador and spokesman for Leukemia awareness.
