LeBron James a Los Angeles Laker?

News, Opinions, Rumors

ESPN has been circulating this blog which discusses the idea of LeBron James becoming Kobe Bryants teammate on the Los Angeles Lakers.

This would require the largest blockbuster trade in all of NBA history and the most dominant roster in the world would be born if it happens.

Cleveland would have to at least entertain a deal as there are zero assurances that LeBron is going to resign. Any player can say where their loyalty is, and then contradict themselves with where they end up playing, usually uttering “this is a business after all” as their justification.

Just go ahead and ask Carlos Boozer, he’ll set you straight.

From a marketing standpoint, leaving Cleveland and joining a significantly larger market is the wisest move available for King LeBron.

All the speculation and chatter in the media has cited the Knicks or the Nets as LeBron’s highest ranking  suitors. From a business aspect, Cleveland cannot afford to let him walk and sign somewhere as an unrestricted free agent.  It would be an instant descent from contender to pretender: Cleveland would become a lottery team.

The networking opportunities and television moguls living in Los Angeles would open many doors for LeBron that are unavailable anywhere else within the NBA.

It ultimately comes down to the Lakers tradition of winning. We all remember how immature LeBron acted after the Orlando Magic eliminated the Cavs last year. We will always remember his absence from the post game press conference and the fact that he did not shake hands with the victorious Magic.

LeBron and Kobe playing together would definitely win some world championships. Additionally, the Lakers could make up for those players lost in the trade by acquiring supplementary veterans who will play for less for a chance to play on a winning franchise.

One Response to “LeBron James a Los Angeles Laker?”

  1. Eric says:

They’re all pretty much just money hungry playing for the highest bidder. Not many players in todays NBA would pass up a huge contract to play on a ring contending team.
